SOC Schedule

How often should a hospital have an SOC completed?

TJC expects that the hospital be maintained continuously per the requirements of the LSC via periodic inspections and by using the typical work order process or SOC PFI when deficiencies are discovered or occur. However, there is no requirement to perform an SOC annually.  For PFI items there is no set time to repair as long as your reasons are valid for the time required, but you also have to look at scoring categories (A or C) and criticality (Immediate Threat to Health or Safety, Situational Decision Rules, Direct Impact Requirements, or Indirect Impact Requirements).  You can’t just say something is a PFI because you can’t get it fixed in 45 days.
