Unfortunately,
I am not aware of any publication that outlines EOC standards for “business
occupancy medical offices.” This is something that has been recommended to TJC, but has not been addressed. EC News has listed a couple of areas that TJC
surveyors might look at if they make it to any of those business occupancies
during survey. As far as I remember the main EC/LS focus would be:
- Free and unobstructed exits
- At least one fire drill per year
- At least one emergency exercise/preparedness drill per year if the business occupancy was designated as a disaster receiving station
- Overall safe environment with no significant or egregious safety issues
