Can notices, flyers, and so on be taped to cabinets and walls?
The Joint Commission requires compliance with the NFPA 101 LSC. Chapter 13, Sect. 13-7.5.4 of the LSC prohibits combustible decorations in any health care occupancy unless they are flame retardant. The intent of this code could also be applied to combustible notices or flyers taped to walls. However, the LSC does permit combustible decorations - in other words, flyers - of such limited quantities that a hazard of fire development or spread is not present. Invite your local fire marshal in to see if he or she can help you determine if your present practices are meeting the intent of the code.
